Karate pants are always made with a gusseted crotch. It’s an essential feature of martial art pants. All martial art pants are designed this way to give you more flexibility when training, specifically for kicking and stretching.
Ironing a gi depends on your individual need and preference. You may wear a gi that is ironed or un-ironed. Some schools insist on ironing a gi, while some don’t. Always ask your instructor whether ironing should be done or not. Usually, a martial artist keeps three sets of a gi. Two sets are for practice, while one set is kept aside for grading, demonstration, or competition. A focus paddle is great to practice the timing, distance and accuracy of kicks. The top of the focus paddle is shaped like a tennis racket and this is the part that is kicked. The bottom is a handle which can be held firmly by the holder of the focus paddle. In case the kick is forceful then the paddle can be knocked out of the holder’s hand, and to prevent this from happening, a long string loop made of cotton or elastic is provided, through which the holder can slide the hand before holding the handle. The string loop can also help to hang the paddle when it is not in use.
